9/25/17: Highlight Reels

My thoughts from this reading are that I agree with what is it saying because for me personally sometimes when I am having a bad day I will post something good that happened a couple of days ago just to make it seem like everything is "perfect" in my life when in reality it is not. Social media can become a highlight reel when everyone is posting something good all the time and the people that follow them start to believe that their life must be perfect because they never post about anything bad, which can be potentially dangerous because people that sit there and look at how perfect someone elses life is they start to compare themselves to that person or they get jealous, sad, angry, annoyed, etc. which after a while it can be hard to not compare yourself to someone else online, even though their life isn't perfect either and you may even be doing the safe thing and only posting your highlight reel yourself. The biggest take away from this is to remember although all you see is the good and the glamorous of other people's lives no one is perfect and everyone goes through bad days just like you. This ties into our digital life because it is a big part our lives and many people that have any form of social media do this and have their own highlight reel.
